Manure and food aren’t usually mentioned in the same sentence, but not everyone has the same vision as Jordan Phasey. The Darwin inventor is harnessing constructed wetland technology to manage waste, and promote plant growth at the same time. Commercial farms often store huge amounts of waste sludge that is difficult to dispose of. Phasey’s unique constructed wetland design allows this waste to be dried into fertile solids that can then be harnessed for farming.

Although the demand for this technology is limited in Australia, Phasey has been recognized at the ‘Nutrient Recycling Challenge’ in the United States. Moving forward he hopes to expand this technology in Asia and Europe.
